Young Mathematicians from UCAN take part in the UK Mathematics Challenge 2018 - 10/05/2018

Young mathematicians from the University of Chester Academy Northwich (UCAN) recently took part in the 2018 UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) challenge.

Mathematics is all around us and in everything we do. It provides the building block for everything in our daily lives including technology, architecture, art, money, engineering, and even sports.

High-flying students from Years 7 and 8 took part in the Junior Challenge whilst Year 9 students participated in the Intermediate challenge which aimed to stimulate mathematical thinking.

The UKMT aims to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics across the country. The UKMT organises national mathematics competitions and other mathematical enrichment activities for students.

The challenges are lively, intriguing multiple choice question papers, which are designed to stimulate interest in maths for large numbers of students. The three levels cover the secondary school age and together they attract over 600,000 entries from over 4,000 schools and colleges across the UK.
