Engineering students delighted to meet Professor Peter Goodhew - 10/10/2017

On Monday 9th October, Year 9, 10 and 11 students were delighted to meet Professor Peter Goodhew to speak with students about ingenuity in engineering.

The event aimed to give students the opportunity to listen, question and speak with an engineer at the top of his field. Students discovered more about the opportunities they have in engineering, what it takes to be successful and how they can make a difference to society.

Professor Peter Goodhew (CBE, FREng) was awarded a CBE in the 2017 New Year Honours and has achieved a number of awards in his field. Peter is an Emeritus Professor of Engineering at the University of Liverpool and also author of a number of publications.

Mrs A Roslan commented: “Students were intrigued at the range of opportunities open to them in the field of engineering and were fascinated by the gadgetry that engineering produced – especially the Lego Mindstorm robot Professor Goodhew brought with him. An inspiring talk which produced lots of questions.”

Student, Jamie Littler commented:  "It was really interesting to hear about his experiences.  He was really practical and hands on and actually showed us how things work and told us about it."

Student, Caitlin Massey also said: “"I liked how he didn't sugar coat his answers - he said it as it is and that was really refreshing."
